Uniquely Ours - Spring Sundays at COSMO
Cosmopolitan Music Society’s advanced Monday Night Band is excited to present “Uniquely Ours” a joint concert with our own Overtones Handbell Choir.
The concert will feature the World premier of Lantern Festival, composed by Edmonton’s own Joseph Cheukman Lai for the Monday Night Band. In addition, the band will present an energetic overture and classics of the Wind Band repertoire including Robert Russell Bennett’s Symphonic Songs for Band and the Florentiner March by Julius Fučik.

The Great Cosmo Sing-Along
Join the Cosmopolitan Chorus with special guests The Bump Dogs as we present The Great Cosmo Sing-Along. Featuring a set-list of group karaoke favourites like Country Roads, Brown Eyed Girl, Sweet Caroline, Don't Stop Believin', and more, The Great Cosmo Sing-a-Long is the chance for the audience to join in the singing for the whole evening! We provide the song sheet, a live band, a full backup choir, song leaders, and a bar & concession, and you provide your voice to join in the party! Help us celebrate the Cosmopolitan Chorus's 40th anniversary with this one-of-a-kind party not to be missed!

Spring Sundays at Cosmo: Reverberations and Wednesday Band
Join the Reverberations Handbells and Wednesday Band as they venture over the hills and far away in this exciting concert of evocative original works, folk songs, dances and meditations.
The handbell repertoire includes Betty Radford's (one of our very own Reverberations ringers) piece "Connections" which was chosen to represent Canada at the 2026 International Handbell Symposium in Scotland.
Reverberations then moves on to nature, with an arrangement of "Sing a Rainbow" from a 1955 film, an arrangement of "What a Wonderful World" and "Spirit in the Wind". We take a trip to Asia with pieces from Singapore and Japan, then end our world tour in Scotland with Gaelic pieces.
Wednesday Band will play “Country Wildflowers” (a lyrical piece based loosely on an old Scottish folk song from about 1709), “Under the Prairie Sky” and “Journey (Paddle Song)” by Canada’s own Robert Buckley, “One Small Step”, and the magnificent ”On a Hymnsong of Philip Bliss”, concluding with a trip to Spain and the fiery “Malagueña”.

Latin Dance Party
It's time to dance! Join the Cosmopolitan Music Society Jazz Big Band and Cosmopolitones with special guest, dance instructor extraordinaire, Maxwell Aguilar, in an evening of hot and lively music and dance. Ticket price includes over an hour of dance lessons led by Maxwell and members of his dance school, Caribbean Touch.

Brahms: Ein Deutsches Requiem - CMS Chorus, Chorus Inspira, Concordia Symphony Orchestra.
Join the Concordia Symphony Orchestra, Cosmopolitan Music Society and Chorus Inspira for this special performance of Brahms’ Ein Deutsches Requiem, Op. 45. Conducted by the incredible Danielle Lisboa, and featuring local young talents, Laura Mackay (soprano) and Josiah Maxwell (baritone), this collaboration between Edmonton’s premiere music organizations will be sure to inspire and connect people from all walks of life.

Prism - Music of the Community
It’s Cosmopolitan Music Society’s Season Finale! Prism - Music of the Community, features performances by all of the Cosmo ensembles: concert bands, jazz bands, handbells, and chorus. You will be treated to a sound experience like no other! Each group will perform a showcase of their best work, and highlight the unique talents and timbres of their ensemble. You do not want to miss this concert!

South Pacific: A Concert Experience

Welcome to the Cosmopolitan Music Society project: South Pacific, A Concert Experience.
Using the brilliant arrangements by Harry Pinchin, conducted by the talented and engaging Jonathan Sutton, coached and staged by the masterful songstress Annie Randall, and produced by CMS Artistic Director Taina Lorenz, this musical event will be sure to delight audiences of all ages. Featuring the vocal talents of Edmonton’s brightest young singers, and accompanied by the Cosmopolitan Music Society Pit Band, this is an experience you don’t want to miss!

Swing Dance Party 2026
It’s time to dance!
Join Sugar Swing, the CMS Jazz Big Band and Cosmopolitones in an evening of dancing and frivolity! Your ticket includes an hour long dance lesson taught by expert swing dancers from Strathcona’s own Sugar Swing, a group performance by the Sugar Swing dance troupe, and live music provided by the CMS jazzers.

Honouring Our Veterans: Lest We Forget
In cooperation with the Royal Canadian Legion, the Cosmopolitan Music Society Tuesday Band and Cosmopolitones present a musical tribute to Veterans and active Service Personnel on November 4 at the Kingsway Legion.
The concert includes a showcase performance by the CMS bands that features catchy tunes and emotional ballads, stories from Veterans and their families, and a moving Remembrance Ceremony that features members of the Royal Canadian Legion Colour Party.
Tickets are available at the door for $25 or through select Legions and the Cosmopolitan Music Society Main Office.
Gratitude: A Concert of Thanksgiving and Remembrance
CMS Monday Band, Reverberations and Overtones join together for an afternoon of moving and entertaining repertoire that highlights the unique sounds and skills of wind band and English handbells.
Repertoire includes Maslanka’s “Give Us This Day”, Barber’s “Commando March”, local composer Betty Radford’s “A Spirit of Joy” and H.D. Wagner’s “Carillon.”

CMS Pride Band at Edmonton Pride Festival
Give it up for the fierce and fabulous Cosmopolitan Music Society Pride Concert Band! This isn’t some stuffy old sitty-downy band; we’re talking bold brass, sassy saxes, and woodwinds that whirl. Made up of passionate musicians from across Edmonton, this group is here to blow your rainbow socks off and perform classic pride anthems from Cabaret and Somewhere Over the Rainbow, to medleys from the Beatles and Muppets. Get ready - these fabulous band geeks came to play and slay!

Kaleidoscope: The CMS 2025 Finale

On June 15, 2025, all ensembles of the Cosmopolitan Music Society will take to the Winspear stage in an evening of diverse and beautiful music. This showcase of our best work highlights the range of genres and styles of music that can be achieved through connection and commitment. Experience Concert Bands, Jazz Bands, Handbells, and Mixed Chorus like never before; each group is an integral piece of the ever changing beauty of the whole. Immerse yourself in a kaleidoscope of sound: Canadian folk tunes and masterworks, grand marches, haunting sound scapes, popular soundtracks, and toe-tapping grooves.

CMS Tuesday Band & Athabasca Community Band
On Saturday, May 31 at 1pm, The Cosmopolitan Music Society and Athabasca Community Band join forces for a matinee performance of concert band classics and originals. Repertoire includes Canadian masterworks by Cait Nishimura and Robert Buckley, soundtrack medleys from Star Wars and James Bond, emotional ballads and zippy marches. Conducted by Dr. Taina Lorenz and Mr. Dan Kindopp.

You will hear songs from Canada and the British Isles, Oscar Galian’s Saleso, Art Maddox’s Kumquatrain Express, Andrew Balfour’s Ambe, and a collection of songs from Liverpool’s Fab Four: The Beatles!
The Reverberations, under the baton of Tammy-Jo Mortensen will "Go the Distance" (from Hercules), perhaps into "Pan's Forest" (Edmonton composer Dorothy Kelker), or maybe we'll take a train ride (Chattanooga Choo Choo), or a ship (Pirates of the Caribbean) or maybe we'll just relax in nature (Introspection), by former Edmonton, now BC composer John Hooper) and celebrate spring (Now the Green Blade Rises and also All Creatures of Our God and King).
