Spring Sundays at Cosmo continues…

CMS Chorus and Reverberations Handbells join together for an afternoon of moving and exciting repertoire that highlights the talents and unique sounds of the human voice and English handbells. You will hear songs from Canada and the British Isles, Oscar Galian’s Saleso, Art Maddox’s Kumquatrain Express, Andrew Balfour’s Ambe, and a collection of songs from Liverpool’s Fab Four: The Beatles!

The Reverberations, under the baton of Tammy-Jo Mortensen will "Go the Distance" (from Hercules), perhaps into "Pan's Forest" (Edmonton composer Dorothy Kelker), or maybe we'll take a train ride (Chattanooga Choo Choo), or a ship (Pirates of the Caribbean) or maybe we'll just relax in nature (Introspection), by former Edmonton, now BC composer John Hooper) and celebrate spring (Now the Green Blade Rises and also All Creatures of Our God and King).

Featuring works that include the Phantom of the Opera, Mission Impossible Theme, sound piece Echoes of a Northern Lake by Canada’s own Cait Nishimura, and the contemporary multi-media sound piece, The Machine Awakes (Bryant), this program will entertain people of all ages and musical tastes.

The Cosmopolitan Music Society Monday Band joins forces with Mission Hill Brass Band in an afternoon of traditional and contemporary favourites, including a joint ensemble performance of Philip Sparke’s Hymn of the Highlands.

It’s time to dance!

Join Sugar Swing, the CMS Jazz Big Band and Cosmopolitones in an evening of dancing and frivolity! Your ticket includes an hour long dance lesson taught by expert swing dancers from Strathcona’s own Sugar Swing, a group performance by the Sugar Swing dance troupe, and live music provided by the CMS jazzers.

Join with Edmonton’s oldest and newest concert bands in an evening of music and community.

Repertoire featured includes Gordon Jacob’s William Byrd Suite and Erika Svanoe’s Steampunk Suite, as well as More Cowbell! and other pop favourites.

Join Reverberations Handbells and the Mill Creek Brass Band for a spectacular evening of Christmas Bells and Brass! 7:30pm at All Saints Anglican Cathedral 10035 103 Street. Tickets are $20 at the door.

In cooperation with the Royal Canadian Legion, the Cosmopolitan Music Society Tuesday Band and Jazz Band present a musical tribute to Veterans and active Service Personnel on November 5 at the Kingsway Legion.

The concert includes a showcase performance by the CMS bands that features catchy tunes and emotional ballads, stories from Veterans and their families, and a moving Remembrance Ceremony that features members of the Royal Canadian Legion Colour Party.

Tickets are available at the door for $25 or through select Legions and the Cosmopolitan Music Society Main Office.

Cosmopolitan Music kicks off its 61st season with a free concert in McIntyre Park on Saturday, Sept 14th, 2024 from 11 am-12:30 pm. Dr. Taina Lorenz will conduct a 30-musician concert band in a showcase of movie soundtracks, marches, folk tunes and classical pieces … something for everyone’s ears!
